Regular gynecological visits are essential for reproductive health. Knowing when to consult a specialist can help in early diagnosis and effective management of health concerns.

1. Annual Routine Checkups

Every woman should consider a routine annual visit for wellness checkups, even if there are no active symptoms. These visits help in preventive care, cervical health screening, and overall reproductive monitoring.

2. Irregular or Painful Periods

You should consult a gynecologist if you experience:

  • Periods that occur more often than every 21 days or less often than every 35 days.
  • Extremely heavy bleeding or cycles lasting longer than 7 days.
  • Severe cramping that interferes with daily activities.
  • Sudden absence of periods (Amenorrhea).

3. Pregnancy Planning & Confirmation

If you are planning to conceive, a pre-conceptional visit is helpful for nutritional guidance and health screening. Also, visit immediately if you suspect you are pregnant to confirm and start antenatal care.

4. Unusual Symptoms

Don't ignore unusual pelvic pain, vaginal itching, abnormal discharge, or lumps. Early consultation for these issues can prevent infections or other complications from worsening.

5. Hormonal & Skin Changes

Sudden increases in facial hair, severe adult acne, or thinning scalp hair can be signs of hormonal imbalances like PCOS. A gynecologist can help with the right diagnosis and management.
